Pucci Initials E.P.: Emilio Pucci show delights in Florence

A year after her arrival as artistic director, Camille Miceli presented her first Pucci collection in Florence. The choice of venue is an homage to founder Emilio Pucci and his ancestral home. Dubbed “Initials E.P.” the brightly colored collection mirrors the rich Tuscan palette on the banks of the Arno.

A mission patch designed by Emilio Pucci for the Apollo 15 crew in 1971 inspired Camille Miceli’s collection. Air and space impart a pulsing freshness to silhouettes as delightfully surprising as they are sophisticated. A flowing caftan in the Pesce motif opened the show, followed by luminous all-white looks, knits enlivened with the Girandole print, and denim reworked with the signature Marmo print. Beach looks featured long zip pulls like those on wet suits, embellished with strass. Shimmering silk twill is laminated with gold foil for an iridescent effect on dresses. Accessories are equally fun, including the Daily bucket bag or the Puccinella in straw, paired with platform sandals or pointy heels embellished with little fishes. Floaters printed with colorful Pucci prints are the new musts for the season. The finale was a huge wow: a dazzling  balloon silhouette, followed by eight catsuits in Pucci prints, layered with gold jewelry and a T-shirt assembled from chains to close the show.

The sky is the limit for this new collection ready for takeoff from Florence to the moon.

Guerlain calls for action to mark World Bee Day

Beginning on World Bee Day, May 20 and through May 22 – the International Day for Biological Diversity – Guerlain is for the third consecutive year encouraging its global community to take action. By helping raise awareness about the vital importance of protecting bees, Guerlain turns its commitments to future generations into concrete initiatives.

To celebrate this year’s World Bee Day, Guerlain gave carte blanche to French artist Céline Cléron, known for her advocacy in favor of animals. The painter, sculptor and visual artist has reimagined the bottle and packaging of Guerlain’s Abeille Royale Advanced Youth Watery Oil, creating a colorful field of flowers in a buzzing garden, alive with a ballet of the invaluable pollinators. The artist has also done a series of watercolor drawings to illustrate simple things everyone can do to help protect bees around us: plant melliferous flowers that provide quality nectar and pollen, let part of the garden grow wild, and provide bees with water. The drawings are reminders of the vital role bees play in ensuring a balanced ecosystem. Almost 90% of the world’s wild flowering plants depend on pollinators, especially bees, according to the IPBES.

Guerlain’s initiative is also a reminder that unsustainable agricultural practices, excessive use of pesticides, climate change and extreme temperatures, habitat destruction and biodiversity erosion continue to radically impact the health of bees worldwide. Guerlain is at the same time inviting Friends of the House to join its actions from May 20-22. Angelina Jolie, Gina Alice, Karen Wazen, Blanca Suarez, Lena Simonne and Mirei Kiritani will lead Bee School sessions at primary schools across the planet. These awareness-building sessions for young generations help children understand the role of pollinators and the things they can do to help protect them. By 2025 Guerlain aims to award Bee School certificates to some 100,000 children worldwide.

In addition, from May 20 to May 22, 20% of proceeds from sales in stores and on Guerlain.com will be donated to the Guerlain for Bees Conservation Program.

Kering and Les Rencontres d’Arles will present the 2023 Women In Motion Award for Photography to Rosângela Rennó

Since its launch at the Festival de Cannes in 2015, Women In Motion has been shining a light on the creativity and unique contribution made by women in culture and the arts whose work has helped to transform our vision of the world. As the program celebrates the 5th anniversary of its partnership with Les Rencontres d’Arles, Kering is pleased to renew its commitment to the festival for another five years.

2023 Women In Motion Award for photography presented to Rosângela Rennó
On Tuesday, July 4, 2023, Kering and Les Rencontres d’Arles will present the Women In Motion Award to the great Brazilian photographer, Rosângela Rennó, during the first soirée at the Théâtre Antique d’Arles. As part of the event, she will present her work and share with the audience her personal journey and her view of women’s place in photography and society in general. A monographic exhibition, supported by Women In Motion, will be dedicated to her at La Mécanique Générale, in Arles.

This is the first major monograph organized in France about the Brazilian photographer. Her previous involvement with Les Rencontres d’Arles had been in 2013, when she received the Historical Book Award for her work on the photographs stolen from the National Library of Brazil in Rio de Janeiro.

Interested in “the way the system tries to erase or manipulate links with the past”, the photographer appropriates and transforms archival photographic material into an art installation or a book of photography. Her work is a detailed exploration of time, of forgetting, and the social and psychological changes that affect memory.

The Women In Motion Award for Photography, which has celebrated the career of an outstanding photographer every year since 2019, is accompanied by an endowment for acquiring works by the chosen artist for the Rencontres d’Arles collection. It was previously awarded to Susan Meiselas in 2019, Sabine Weiss in 2020, Liz Johnson Artur in 2021 and Babette Mangolte in 2022.

Supporting the Agnès Varda Exhibition : La Pointe Courte, Des Photographies au Film

This year, Women In Motion is particularly proud to support La Pointe courte, des photographies au film, an exhibition curated by Carole Sandrin, assisted by Elisa Magnani of the Institut pour la Photographie. The display, created with the approval of Rosalie Varda and the Ciné-Tamaris team, consists of photographs taken by Agnès Varda in the summer of 1954 before and during the shooting of the film La Pointe courte and will be on show at the Cloître Saint-Trophime during the Rencontres d’Arles.

Agnès Varda represents everything that the Women In Motion program was created for. A key figure in the program since the first edition in Cannes in 2015, she spoke on several occasions with her characteristic mixture of passion and imagination about the various battles she had fought, about feminism, and also the solutions that she envisaged – and to which she always remained committed. For the Women In Motion program, the exhibition is a way of maintaining its support for this hugely important figure in France’s artistic heritage.

Women In Motion and Les Rencontres d’Arles renew their partnership
For its 5th anniversary in Arles, Kering is pleased to both extend and deepen its long-term relationship with Les Rencontres d’Arles by committing to another five years as a Major Partner of the festival, starting in 2024.

In March 2019, Kering and Les Rencontres d’Arles announced their collaboration and the launch of the Women In Motion photography program in Arles. While continuing its sponsorship since 2016 of the Prix de la Photo Madame Figaro Award, which supports emerging female talent, Kering announced two complementary initiatives in partnership with Les Rencontres: the Women In Motion Award and the Women In Motion LAB. The latter program provides funding for long-term projects that highlight women in photography.  The first edition, which ran from 2019 to 2021, funded a research project that led to the publication of a reference work – A world history of women photographers – in both French and English editions.

For the second LAB program, starting in 2021, Kering and Les Rencontres supported research to promote Bettina Grossman’s archives by the artist Yto Barrada, with an eponymous book Bettina being published and an exhibition of her work being held as part of the festival in July 2022.

The third LAB-supported project, starting in 2023, will be announced shortly.

About Rosângela Rennó
Rosângela Rennó was born in 1962 in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. She currently lives and works in Rio de Janeiro.
Her work on photographs, objects and installations is characterized by the investigation of different politics of the photographic representation and absorption and of the relations between memory and forgetfulness, by appropriating images from diverse sources, from fleamarkets and internet photos to institutional archives. Precarious, abandoned photographic archives and even ‘dead files’ have led her to engage herself on clarifying and fighting the recurring narratives of erasure and ‘structural ignorance,’ used as a strategy of historical amnesia and exclusion of a large part of the population, especially in Brazil and South Global countries. She also dedicates herself to the creation of videos and artist’s books, always in the same conceptual basis.

About Women In Motion
Kering’s commitment to women is at the heart of the Group’s priorities and extends, through Women In Motion, to the field of arts and culture, where gender inequalities are still glaring, even though creation is one of the most powerful vectors for change.

In 2015, Kering launched Women In Motion at the Festival de Cannes with the ambition of highlighting women in cinema, both in front of and behind the camera. The program has since expanded in a major way to photography, but also to art, design, choreography, and music. Through its Awards and Podcasts, the program recognizes inspirational figures and emerging female talent, while its Talks provide an opportunity for leading personalities to share their views on the representation of women in their profession.
For the past nine years, Women In Motion has been a platform of choice that contributes to changing mind sets and thinking on the place of women – and the recognition they receive – in the arts and culture.

Tiffany & Co. unveils The Landmark, a new experience in New York City

Tiffany & Co. ushers in a new chapter with the reopening of its iconic store – now known as “The Landmark” – on Fifth Avenue in New York City. The crown jewel of the New York landscape is among Manhattan’s largest stores, offering a unique experience replete with custom artwork, never-before-seen jewels and immersive displays.

This holistic transformation – the first renovation since the store opened in 1940 – brought together two giants in the world of architecture. Architect and interior designer Peter Marino reimagined the interior, while the OMA New York firm, led by Shohei Shigematsu, spearheaded the renovation of the building’s core, as well as the addition of a new three-story volume above the existing building. To honor the timeless charm of the boutique, the original façade has been refurbished, while the interiors have been completely reimagined into a new world of wonders.

“The reopening of the iconic Fifth Avenue Landmark is a major milestone for our House. Symbolic of a new era for Tiffany & Co., the Landmark is much more than a jewelry store— it is a cultural hub with an exquisite showcase of architecture and superior hospitality, as well as cutting-edge art and design. It sets a new bar for luxury retail on a global scale.” — Anthony Ledru, President and Chief Executive Officer, Tiffany & Co.

Entering the store, visitors are immersed in a glittering tribute to the legacy of visionary founder Charles Lewis Tiffany — “the Diamond Kings” – and to New York City, with iconic scenery projected on video walls. A sculptural spiral staircase at the heart of the store is inspired by Elsa Peretti, renowned for her sensual and organic Tiffany designs.

The vibrant cultural dimension of The Landmark is manifest in the nearly 40 artworks integrated throughout the store’s 10 floors, including creations by renowned artists such as Damien Hirst, Julian Schnabel, Rashid Johnson, Anna Weyant and Daniel Arsham. Dedicated museum and exhibition spaces on floors 8 and 9 will offer a rotation of compelling concepts and unique storytelling experiences.

For a delectable culinary interlude, the Blue Box Cafe™ by Daniel Boulud, New York Michelin-starred chef, proposes a unique take on Tiffany’s coveted dining experience.

To commemorate the opening, Tiffany & Co. is set to debut a range of exclusive designs and one-of-a-kind creations. The Landmark will be home to the largest collection of Tiffany High Jewelry in the world, including most notably, the new design for the legendary 128.54-carat Tiffany Diamond.

This major renovation has been carried out with a strong focus on sustainability, underlining Tiffany’s environmental, health and wellbeing initiatives. The Landmark is on track to achieve WELL Platinum and LEED Gold certifications, the highest levels of these ratings of building wellbeing and environmental quality ratings.

Maison Guerlain presents “Rêve d’Amour” by Nadine Kanso to celebrate 170th anniversary of iconic Bee bottle

Guerlain asked Lebanese designer Nadine Kanso to reinterpret its iconic Bee bottle. The collaboration around the theme of love led to a creation that fuses the art of perfumery with contemporary jewelry.

“I chose the word ‘love’ to show the world that with love we can accomplish beautiful things.” — Nadine Kanso

Following partnerships with Maison Matisse and Ateliers Vermont, Guerlain welcomes an artist whose inspirations are steeped in Arab culture. Nadine Kanso is renowned for her signature use of refined calligraphy in her creations, inspiring the lines of her exquisite jewelry in gold and precious gems. A veritable declaration of love, “Rêve d’Amour” celebrates both the Middle East’s passion for fragrances and calligraphy. The word “Love” is written in Arabic in calligraphy nine times, decorated with thousands of precious sparkling Swarovski crystals. The design of the bottle, equal parts jewelry and art piece, was entrusted to a historic atelier of Guerlain, which has been labelled a “Living Heritage Company”, working closely with Swarovski. Each of the nine motifs on the jeweled bottles has been executed individually by hand, calling for more than 12 hours of meticulous craftsmanship to set the 1,710 crystals one by one.

This precious bottle – made in a limited edition of just 30 numbered pieces – is filled with special eau de parfum created by Guerlain perfumers exclusively for this edition.

An exceptional creation straight out of a dreamlike Thousand and One Nights Garden.

Louis Vuitton creates a striking moment on Jamsugyo bridge with its first Prefall show

Louis Vuitton unveiled its Prefall 2023 women’s collection with a masterful tribute to the Maison’s long relationship with South Korea. In the heart of the country’s capital, Nicolas Ghesquière, Artistic Director for Louis Vuitton women’s collections, transformed the landmark Jamsugyo Bridge into a catwalk for a collection that honors Seoul’s vibrant culture and pioneering spirit.

“I am thrilled to have Louis Vuitton’s first-ever Prefall fashion show in the vibrant capital city of Seoul, showcasing artistic director Nicolas Ghesquière’s vision for the collection. A cultural hub that continues to draw global attention, Seoul shares a common spirit with Louis Vuitton for pioneering the future, reimagining creativity, and nurturing savoir-faire. The collection is being presented on the iconic Jamsugyo Bridge, spanning the Hangang river, emblematic of the longstanding relationship Louis Vuitton has with Seoul and their shared values.” — Pietro Beccari, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Louis Vuitton

With a set by Squid Game director Dong-Hyuk proposing a gambit of light and watery illusion, the Prefall 2023 collection was a creative flow back and forth, exploring the very foundations of the Maison. Its origins as a trunkmaker established principles that serve as catalysts for clothing, notably black and white Damier checkerboard prints on billowing pants, waisted dresses and trapeze dresses. The wardrobe also featured biker jackets and colorfully striped suits with layered fabrics.

This living work of architecture is in elegant harmony with the water’s whims. The show fittingly kicked off a strategic partnership between the city of Seoul and Louis Vuitton, which has pledged to help preserve the biodiversity of the Hangang River. The Maison will also partner with the Korea Tourism Organization to revitalize local tourism.

The choice of the Serenissima is a tribute to the city’s role as a guardian of Byzantine culture, a symbol of openness to different cultures, bringing together distant universes and inspirations. Over the centuries Venice served as the crossroads of Mediterranean influences, a privileged stage for myriad encounters and exchanges, perfectly embodying the eclectic ethos of the collection.

Born from audacious creativity and exceptional craftsmanship, the collection is a kaleidoscope of unprecedented jewelry creations, translating multifaceted suggestions collected through time and space. With Mediterranea, Bulgari showcases the pinnacle of High-Jewelry, retracing and imaginary trip across the Mediterranean Sea, the unique cradle of civilization, an inexhaustible source of inspiration layering multiple arts, traditions and crafts.

This High Jewelry collection is an homage to the Mediterranean beauty and essence in all its forms. Our hospitality and open-mindedness are rooted in this history.” — Lucia Silvestri Bulgari Jewelry Creative Director

With Mediterranea, Bulgari unveil its new high jewellery and high end watches collections by embarking on an epic and immersive journey that starts from Rome, the eternal city and permanent source of creative inspiration for Bulgari, to Venice, the major crossroad of Mediterranean influences where the Roman Byzantine Empire fused with the Roman Western Empire to give birth to inclusive and unrivalled arts and architecture. With great honour we celebrate the vision of the founder Sotirio Bulgari with magnificent creations that represent the pinnacle of Bulgari identity made of audacious creativity and exceptional craftsmanship. Offering to our guests the most extraordinary locations of the City together with pioneering AI driven interactive experiences further enhancing the beauty and emotions created by 2023 collection establishing a new milestone in extraordinary goldsmithing and gems expertise.” — Jean-Christophe Babin, Président-directeur general de Bulgari.
